Story of Heart & Paw
I absolutely love animals! I enjoy interacting with them, and love observing them in be themselves in their happy element.
Over the pandemic, I was introduced to the incredible world of stray dogs in my hometown of New Delhi. I was entranced by their innocence, gratitude and unconditional love and affection. Ever since then, I've made it my life's mission to make their lives as comfortable as possible. But of course, that's not an easy task. There is an endless number of stray dogs in Delhi, but along with a group of volunteers, I'm trying to help one dog at a time. That's my raison d'etre.
Lily was my first rescue off the streets (you can find her story here). I initially did wish to only foster her until I could find her a permanent home, but I ended up falling in love and becoming a foster fail. Fortune was my second foster failure. By this time I had 4 dogs at home, I couldn't comfortably accommodate any more dogs in my home, so when I rescued Rustom, I didn't know what to do. I placed him in a shelter where I would pay a monthly fee for his board and meals. But a shelter is not a place for a healthy dog. Following Rustom, I ended up with 3 more dogs at the shelter. And they don't belong there! They are happy and healthy and would make truly wonderful pets. And my story doesn't end there. I come across so many rescuers and animals in need of rescue on a regular basis. And there is a pressing need to establish a network to make rescuing and fostering sustainable. And that's what we're attempting to do.
